Prime Advantage has invited industry experts to share insights on achieving manufacturing and business success. In this post, Karin Hurt, CEO of Let’s Grow Leaders and author of Winning Well, discusses how to get the most out of your limited time with your manager.

When's the last time you had a really great one-on-one with your boss? If your answer is anything but "in the last 2 weeks," you're not alone. A great cadence of good one-on-one meetings is unusual. Why? Well first, everybody’s busy. It's easier to cancel a meeting with a direct report than with your boss. Or perhaps, your one-on-ones drag on, lack preparation, or generally feel like a waste of time.

What to Know When Considering Volume LTL Shipments

Posted by Guest Contributor on Apr 11, 2017 10:50:00 AM

Prime Advantage has invited industry experts to share insights on achieving manufacturing and business success. In this post, Neal Willis of ReTrans Freight, discusses the pros and cons of shipping volume LTL.

For most carriers, shipments begin to meet the cubic capacity limits around 750 cubic feet, which is roughly around 7 pallets and/or 6,000 lbs. When freight begins to approach these dimensions, it’s always wise to check LTL carrier volume rates for further options. Even though it doesn’t fill an entire trailer, shippers sometimes opt to send these moves via full truckload as a more economical alternative. Volume LTL is often overlooked as a cost-effective option and offers several advantages over full truckload or regular LTL.

Playing the Long Game with Your Productivity

Posted by Guest Contributor on Feb 7, 2017 2:00:00 PM

Prime Advantage has invited industry experts to share insights on achieving manufacturing and business success. In this post, Andy McNulty of Communication Performance Management Associates, discusses how you can be more productive by keeping score of your goals.

No, life is not a game. But it can be a lot of fun and maybe we’d be better at it if we kept score. For example, everybody I know who plays golf wants to play more. But as marriage and work and kids tend to creep into our (tee-)time, it gets more and more difficult to find the time and the money, and even the accomplices, with whom to sneak away with and squeeze in even nine holes. If we were more efficient with those things which appear to be the obstacles to our golf game, we’d have more resources to allocate to playing. Ironically, “playing golf every day,” can help us to play more golf…or at least be more productive and do something we really want to do if playing golf isn’t it. (Some people would rather fish.)

In fact, poor data management ranks as the number one obstacle to smooth supplier relations according to PayStream Advisors.
