Keeping Supply Chains on Pace with Digital Manufacturing Strategy

As we mentioned before, the manufacturing industry is a leader when it comes to implementing technologies to advance production. Specifically, many manufacturers have strong digital strategies utilizing innovations such as 3D printing, the Internet of Things (IOT), cloud computing and advanced analytics, all while becoming exceedingly mobile.
There is one area, however, where manufacturing may be lagging on the high-tech front: the supply chain. Executives are voicing some discontent with their supply chain's ability to keep pace with other technology implementations throughout their organizations. And as we saw with the Prime Advantage 2015 CFO Survey Report, 44% of manufacturers plan to increase their technology spend this year in comparison to last. So could we be on the cusp of the next major supply chain innovation breakthrough in the same vein as predecessors like the Kanban system or the UPC barcode? Stay tuned…
